Hard Rock ParkMyrtle Beach, South Carolina, USA2008 to 2008See Photos Gallery Thumbnails External LinksOpened in the spring of 2008 to great fanfare, but little marketing, Hard Rock Park was highly themed to rock and roll. Not owned by Hard Rock International, the park licensed the name and borrowed a large collection of rock memorabilia to decorate the park. Classic Rock played from every speaker, and the rides were built around classic songs, including Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love and the Moody Blues' Nights in White Satin. Yet this themeing increased licensing costs greatly. This, coupled with a poor marketing plan, and a couple of finicky rides from Premier, led the park into early bankruptcy in the fall of 2008. Just before the park was fully liquidated, a buyer was found. Russian-based FPI MB Entertainment LLC bought the park and renamed it Freestyle Music Park. Much of the licensing was dropped, and the park reopened Memorial Day weekend 2009.© Copyright 2010 ATRA - all rights reserved |
